Two Heads Are Better Than One...

Saturday, May 14, 2011

It's been an unusual week for picking up parts for the Roadster. I saw this cylinder head advertised on a forum last week stating the car it came off was dyno'd at 143bhp. Having a healthy 15bhp increase over the oem figures wasn't to be grumbled at so I got in touch with the seller and agreed to buy the head. Although I have a BP4W head in the garage I couldn't turn this down.
When I got home I got cleaning and found why the car made 143bhp. The head was used on a track Eunos Roadster and has had some porting.
Later in the week my Mazdaspeed oil cap came in the post too.
While I was outside with my camera I thought it would be rude not to take a photo of the interior of the car.
So, the plan then. I still want a set of Jenvey throttle bodies, so in the mean time I'll buy a used BP06 exhaust camshaft and do the exhintake mod. Over on Miata.net there has been dyno charts showing a healthy 6bhp increase so it's a worth while mod. It'll help the car pull better to the redline as the exhaust cam has higher lift and longer duration than the intake cam.
